Technical properties of porcelain stoneware

In addition to what was mentioned above, porcelain stoneware
has a number of other technical properties that make it a material that is
versatile and reliable for roofing. Here are some of the main
technical characteristics of porcelain stoneware:
1. Wear resistance: Porcelain stoneware is known for its high
resistance to wear and abrasion. This means that it is able to
resist wear and tear caused by chemical and physical agents.
2. Resistance to weathering: porcelain stoneware is resistant to
weathering, temperature variations, sunlight and the effects of
weathering. It does not deteriorate due to exposure to external agents,
maintaining its integrity and appearance over time.
3. Frost resistance: Porcelain stoneware is highly resistant to frost, which
which means it can withstand freeze-thaw cycles without damage.
This characteristic is especially important for roofing tiles,
when tiles must withstand adverse weather conditions and in the
harshest environments.
4. Low porosity: Porcelain stoneware has very low porosity, which
means it prevents water absorption (less than 0.5 percent - Ref. UNI
EN 14411) and the formation of mold and algae on the surface of tiles.
5. Fire resistance: Porcelain stoneware is a fire-resistant material, which does not
burn or emit toxic fumes in case of fire. This characteristic
makes it a safe option for roofing, providing an
additional protection against fire, especially when compared to shingles made of
wood.
6. Dimensional stability: Porcelain stoneware maintains its shape and
dimension over time. It does not warp or contract by expanding in response
to changes in temperature. This dimensional stability ensures a
uniform and continuous coverage on the roof.
7. Ease of installation: porcelain stoneware is designed to be
easily installed. The tiles are lightweight and can be laid with
